Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

“Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.” Say it aloud. The very title causes the pulse to quicken, if you, like me, are a lover of pulp fiction. What I want is goofy action–lots of it. I want man-eating ants, swordfights between two people balanced on the backs of speeding jeeps, subterranean caverns of gold, vicious femme fatales, plunges down three waterfalls in a row, and the explanation for flying saucers. And throw in lots of monkeys.

The Indiana Jones movies were directed by Steven Spielberg and written
by George Lucas and a small army of screenwriters, but they exist in a
universe of their own. Hell, they created it. All you can do is compare one to the other three. And even then, what will it get you? If you eat four pounds of sausage, how do you choose which pound tasted the best? Well, the first one, of course, and then there’s a steady drop-off of interest. That’s why no Indy adventure can match “Raiders of the Lost Ark” (1981). But if “Crystal Skull” (or “Temple of Doom” from 1984 or “Last Crusade” from, 1989) had come first in the series, who knows how much fresher it might have seemed? True, “Raiders of the Lost Ark” stands alone as an action masterpiece, but after that the series is compelled to be, in the words of Indiana himself, “same old same old.” Yes, but that’s what I want it to be.

“Crystal Skull” even dusts off the Russians, so severely under- exploited in recent years, as the bad guys. Up against them, Indiana Jones is once again played by Harrison Ford, who is now 65 but looks a lot like he did at 55 or 46, which is how old he was when he made “Last Crusade.” He has one of those Robert Mitchum faces that doesn’t age, it only frowns more. He and his sidekick Mac McHale (Ray Winstone) are taken by the cool, contemptuous Soviet uber-villainess Irina Spalko (Cate Blanchett) to a cavernous warehouse to seek out a crate he saw there years ago. The contents of the crate are hyper- magnetic (lord, I love this stuff) and betray themselves when Indy throws a handful of gunpowder into the air.

Watch the trailer’Indiana Jones’ movie trailer
In ways too labyrinthine to describe, the crate leads Indy, Mac, Irina and the Russians far up the Amazon. Along the way they’ve gathered Marion Ravenwood (Karen Allen), Indy’s girlfriend from the first film, and a young biker named Mutt Williams (Shia LeBeouf), who is always combing his ducktail haircut. They also acquire Professor Oxley (John Hurt), elderly colleague from the University of Chicago, whose function is to read all the necessary languages, know all the necessary background, and explain everything.

What happens in South America is explained by the need to create (1) sensational chase sequences, and (2) awe-inspiring spectacles. We get such sights as two dueling Jeep-like vehicles racing down parallel roads. Not many of the audience members will be as logical as I am, and wonder who went to the trouble of building parallell roads in a rain forest. Most of the major characters eventually find themselves at the wheels of both vehicles; they leap or are thrown from one to another, and the vehicles occasionally leap right over one another. And that Irina, she’s something. Her Russian backups are mostly just atmosphere, useful for pointing their rifles at Indy, but she can fight shoot, fence, drive, leap and kick, and keep on all night.

All leads to the discovery of a subterranean chamber beneath an ancient Pyramid, where they find an ancient city made of gold and containing…but wait, I forgot to tell you they found a crystal skull in a crypt. Well sir, it’s one of 13 crystal skulls, and the other 12 are in that chamber. When the set is complete, amazing events take place. Prof. Oxley carries the 13th skull for most of the time, and finds it repels man-eating ants. It also represents one-thirteenth of all knowledge about everything, leading Irina to utter the orgasmic words, “I want…to know!” In appearance, the skull is a cross between the aliens of the Special Edition of Spielberg’s “Close Encounters of the Third Kind” and the hood ornaments of 1950s Pontiacs.

What is the function of the chamber? “It’s a portal–to another dimension!” Oxley says. Indy is sensible: “I don’t think we wanna go that way.” It is astonishing that the protagonists aren’t all killed 20 or 30 times, although Irnia will beome The Women Who Knew Too Much. At his advanced age, Prof.Oxley tirelessly jumps between vehicles, survives fire and flood and falling from great heights, and would win on “American Gladiator.” Relationships between certain other characters are of interest, since (a) the odds against them finding themselves together are astronomical, and (b) the odds against them not finding themselves together in this film are incalculable.

Now what else can I tell you, apart from mentioning the blinking red digital countdown, and the moving red line tracing a journey on a map? I can say that if you liked the other Indiana Jones movies, you will like this one, and that if you did not, there is no talking to you. And I can also say that a critic trying to place it into a heirarchy with the others would probably keep a straight face while recommending the second pound of sausage.

Indiana Jones ‘opening in Cannes’

New Indiana Jones movie The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull will premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May, one of its stars John Hurt has said.

But the actor, who plays Abner Ravenwood in the picture, told BBC One’s Jonathan Ross show he was sworn to secrecy about the film’s details.

There has been speculation the film will debut at the French event days before a worldwide release on 22 May.

The Cannes programme is not officially released until later this month.

‘Brilliant’

A spokesman for the festival was not immediately available for comment.

Hurt told the chat show host that Harrison Ford, who is returning to play the titular hero at the age of 65, is “brilliant”.

“I have nothing but good things to say about him. He understands that whole franchise. He is that franchise,” said the British star.

The new film will also star Australian Oscar winner Cate Blanchett and Shia LaBeouf.

It took almost 18 years before Harrison, director Steven Spielberg and producer George Lucas returned with a fourth instalment in the popular film series.

A trailer to the new movie was released in February, and received a largely positive response.

Criticisms that Ford might have grown too old for the role have been largely dismissed by fans.

Hurt, meanwhile, said he was in talks to reprise his role as Quentin Crisp in a film about the later stages of his life in New York.

The actor won critical acclaim for his portrayal of Crisp in The Naked Civil Servant, a 1975 television play about the flamboyant gay man’s struggle to be accepted in Britain during the 1930s and 40s.

BEIJING Foreign companies are defending themselves against accusations spread on Chinese Web sites that they are doing too little to help earthquake survivors.
Online comments called for boycotts of McDonald’s, Wal-Mart, Nokia and others — in one case calling them “International Super-Misers” — but companies said they felt no impact.

“We feel very proud of what we’ve done. We’ve done a lot,” said Thomas Jonsson, a spokesman for Nokia Corp., which donated food, tents and mobile phones for rescuers. On Wednesday, it pledged 35 million yuan ($5 million) for reconstruction.

McDonald’s Corp. said it has served more than 40,000 meals to quake survivors and rescue workers and pledged 10 million yuan ($1.5 million) Wednesday to build new schools in quake areas.

“We’ve been involved in helping and responding since day one,” said McDonald’s spokeswoman Lisa Howard.

By Tuesday, foreign companies had donated 1.2 billion yuan ($175 million) in cash, plus supplies worth 108 million yuan ($15.5 million), according to the government.

Despite that, nationalistic Chinese Web surfers who react angrily to any perceived slight to their country have accused foreign companies of failing to provide enough help.

A posting on popular search engine Baidu.com’s blog service listed corporate donations and said they were smaller than those after the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami.

Comments on online bulletin boards criticized McDonald’s Corp., Yum Brands Inc.’s KFC restaurants, Toyota Motor Corp., Nokia, South Korea’s Samsung Electronics Corp. and French retailer Carrefour SA.

Chinese nationalists often have conflicted feelings toward foreign companies, which have helped to fuel the country’s economic boom but are seen as rivals to local companies.

Among other companies, Wal-Mart Stores Inc. said it has given food, some 3,000 tents and other aid worth 3 million yuan ($430,000) and added to that by using its distribution network to move supplies to the disaster area.

“We are reacting very quickly in support,” said Wal-Mart spokesman Jonathan Dong.

Nokia sent 5,000 mobile phones for use by rescuers and sent employees into the disaster area to maintain them, Jonsson said.

“For us initially the most important thing was to get our relief effort going, and once we had it going we could communicate about it, but some people were quick to think we weren’t doing anything,” he said. “We’ve seen these criticisms going away and our efforts being better understood as the days go along.”

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mother’s Day is a day honoring mothers, celebrated on various days in many places around the world. It complements Father’s Day, the celebration honoring fathers.

History

Different countries celebrate Mother’s Day on various days of the year because the day has a number of different origins.

One school of thought claims this day emerged from a custom of mother worship in ancient Greece, which kept a festival to Cybele, a great mother of Greek gods. This festival was held around the Vernal Equinox around Asia Minor and eventually in Rome itself from the Ides of March (15 March) to 18 March.

The ancient Romans also had another holiday, Matronalia, that was dedicated to Juno, though mothers were usually given gifts on this day.

In some countries Mother’s Day began not as a celebration for individual mothers but rather for Christians.

Mothering Sunday in Britain and Ireland

Mothering Sunday, also called “Mothers’ Day” in the United Kingdom and Ireland falls on the fourth Sunday of Lent (exactly three weeks before Easter Sunday). It is believed to have originated from the 16th century Christian practice of visiting one’s mother church annually, which meant that most mothers would be reunited with their children on this day. Most historians believe that young apprentices and young women in servitude were released by their masters that weekend in order to visit their families. As a result of secularization, it is now principally used to celebrate and give thanks for mothers, although it is still recognised in the historical sense by some churches, with attention paid to Mary the mother of Jesus as well as the traditional concept ‘Mother Church’.

Mothering Sunday can fall at earliest on March 1st (in years when Easter Day falls on March 22nd) and at latest on April 4th (when Easter Day falls on April 25th).

Mother’s Day in the United States

The United States celebrates Mother’s Day on the second Sunday in May. In the United States, Mother’s Day was loosely inspired by the British day and was imported by social activist Julia Ward Howe after the American Civil War. However, it was intended as a call to unite women against war. In 1870, she wrote the Mother’s Day Proclamation as a call for peace and disarmament. Howe failed in her attempt to get formal recognition of a Mother’s Day for Peace.

Her idea was influenced by Ann Jarvis, a young Appalachian homemaker who, starting in 1858, had attempted to improve sanitation through what she called Mothers’ Work Days. She organized women throughout the Civil War to work for better sanitary conditions for both sides, and in 1868 she began work to reconcile Union and Confederate neighbors.

When Jarvis died in 1905, her daughter, named Anna Jarvis, started the crusade to found a memorial day for women. In 1907, she passed out 500 white carnations at her mother’s church, St. Andrew’s Methodist Episcopal Church in Grafton, West Virginia—one for each mother in the congregation. The first Mother’s Day service was celebrated on 10 May 1908, in the same church, where the elder Ann Jarvis had taught Sunday School. Anna chose Sunday to be Mother’s Day because she intended the day to be commemorated and treated as a Holy Day. Later commercial and other exploitations of the use of Mothers Day infuriated Anna and she made her criticisms explicitly known throughout her time .

Originally the Andrew’s Methodist Episcopal Church, the site of the original Mother’s Day commemoration, where Anna handed out carnations, this building is now the International Mother’s Day Shrine (a National Historic Landmark). From there, the custom caught on—spreading eventually to 46 states. The holiday was declared officially by some states beginning in 1912, beginning with West Virginia. In 1914 President Woodrow Wilson declared the first national Mother’s Day, as a day for American citizens to show the flag in honor of those mothers whose sons had died in war.

Nine years after the first official Mother’s Day, commercialization of the U.S. holiday became so rampant that Anna Jarvis herself became a major opponent of what the holiday had become. Mother’s Day continues to this day to be one of the most commercially successful U.S. occasions. According to the National Restaurant Association, Mother’s Day is now the most popular day of the year to dine out at a restaurant in the United States.

For example, according to IBISWorld, a publisher of business research, Americans will spend approximately $2.6 billion on flowers, $1.53 billion on pampering gifts — like spa treatments — and another $68 million on greeting cards.

Mother’s Day will generate about 7.8% of the US jewelry industry’s annual revenue in 2008. Americans are expected to spend close to $3.51 billion in 2008 on dining out for Mother’s Day, with brunch and dinner being the most popular dining out options .

Mother’s Day in various parts of the world

In most countries, Mother’s Day is a new concept copied from western civilization. In many African countries, the idea of one Mother’s Day has its origins in copying the British concept, although there are many festivals and events celebrating mothers within the many diverse cultures on the African continent that have been there centuries before the colonials arrived. In Japan, Mother’s Day is a heavily marketed concept.

Mother’s Day is celebrated on different days throughout the world. Examining the trends in Google searches for the term “mother’s day” shows two major blips, the smaller one on the fourth Sunday in Lent (it is also called ladies day and women’s day), and the larger one on the second Sunday in May.

Mother’s Day in various regions:

Second Sunday in February [Norway]

February 2 [Greece. Corresponds to the Eastern Orthodox feast day of the Presentation of Jesus at the Temple. Since the Theotokos (The Mother of God) appears prominently in this feast as the one who brought Christ to the Temple at Jerusalem, this feast is associated with mothers.
A dog breeder in Alhambra, Calif., is mystified after his golden retriever gave birth to a green puppy, according to a Local 6 News report.

A golden retriever has given birth to a green puppy, appropriately named Wasabi.

The dog is healthy and green, according to the report. Local 6 News showed video of the puppy rolling around with its normal-looking newborn brothers and sisters. Skeptics said the dog had to be dyed green but the owner said the puppy was born green. Veterinarians said it is possible for a newborn puppy’s fur to be green because the placenta, which is green, rubs off at birth.

This reminds me of the guy whose sweat turned green. I’m inclined to think the dog case might be real, because if you’re going to dye a puppy, why do such a bad job? Go all out and make him glow in the dark. The puppy in the pictures hardly looks green at all (though maybe that’s just because of the poor quality of the video images). Of course, if their next move is to sell the puppy on eBay, then I might suspect a hoax. <img src="http://worldarticles.chinareadonline.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/05/5290504_240x180.jpg" alt="green puppytitle="green puppy" width="240" height="180" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-58420" />

A seven-hour seminar on CDs recently came to my attention. It’s entitled “When Food Is Food and Love Is Love” by Geneen Roth. To participate in the program offered, it is necessary to “listen to your body” to find out when it wants food, what it wants and when it’s had enough.

Piece of cake, right? (Pun intended.) For some of us, it simply isn’t as easy as it sounds. How often do we do that? Or for that matter, how is it even done? I was sincerely surprised and not a little put off when I realized that I eat when it’s time to eat and I usually munch on what my emotions or my mind want. I was brought up that way, and it looks to me like those around me are doing the same thing.

Giving it a sincere try left me not eating for 24 hours because I didn’t have a clue how it felt to be hungry! That didn’t seem to hurt me and eventually I got a feeling of “butterflies” in my stomach for want of a better description. All was not peaceful in my innards. My mouth started watering long before that but that didn’t seem to be enough of an indication for me to act on.

Asking your body what it wants is just as tricky. I got answers loud and clear from my emotions and mind, but my body seldom wanted sugary foods and sought a better balance, when asked.

Finding out what was “enough” was the least difficult. Once the sensation of “butterflies” were accessed. “Enough” is when they go away, for me. How strange to approach eating so wisely.

A side benefit was that things started to taste and smell quite wonderful. I started to sit down and pay attention to my food and eat more slowly. It’s been a revelation to find that I was more focused on shoveling it in than I was on what it was I was eating.

As the weeks have progressed, I’ve started to become curious about the rest of my life. Like…why can’t this same approach be taken with the decisions I make about my work and play activities and my choices about friends?

The art of listening to your body resonate with a negative or affirmative response can be slow to come by. At least it has been for me. I’ve had to get past tons of “shoulds” and “should nots”, first…unconscious programming that I wasn’t aware of. However, with practice I’m starting to get the hang of it and it’s starting to offer me a deeper freedom. Why not give it a try? Nothing ventured, nothing gained!

Home accessories are becoming an integral part of creating an appealing and welcoming home. Taking pride in caring for the interior of ones home is becoming essential. Most people are finding that it is becoming more fashionable to use mirrors in their design schemes. However, it is not always easy for people to know exactly what needs to be done to achieve the look that you are hoping for. Mirrors are never easy accessories to use because the choices it all depend on many factors.

In order for you to create your ideal decor with mirrors you need to set out a proper and well established plan. The only way to do that is to actually know the space you are working with. This will involve you making those crucial house measurements and making a drawing of your space. This is the way most, if not all, interior designers work. It is ideal to keep in mind that less is always more. There is no need to go into minimalist design, it is just important to note that space is provided less clutter in the room. The next step is to work out your color scheme.

The reason why color comes after determination of space is so that you will be able to determine which type of furniture you want to have. In this you will also be able to decide on the shapes and frames that your mirrors should have.

After color comes the all important role of the mirrors. You will need to decide what role your mirrors will play in the room. Will they be for illuminating more light, or will they come in handy for creating the illusion of more space? The sole reason for this analysis is so that you will be able to easily know where to place your mirrors.

Mirrors that are used for light will always be more directly at an angle from a window and those that are used to create more space are placed in corners to “stretch” the room that they occupy. Also, the style of the mirror is important. This helps give out a message of what you are looking for in terms of style for the entire space.

If your aim is to attack the more simple yet attractive side of mirrors, then be assured that your decor needs will be catered to. Mirrors with wooden frames or even bronze frames are readily available. The beauty of it is that if you wish to spend more on your mirror then you will be able to pursue individuals who can make you a personalized bathroom mirror frame and mirror design. It is clear that contemporary mirrors need not conform to traditional shapes. Therefore, if you are feeling a bit adventurous, then you should surely look into the options of mirrors and how the role they play in design schemes.

ELIZABETH VARGAS, Host: As we said earlier, former LAPD detectives Phil Vannatter and Tom Lange were guests on our show yesterday. Today — and they were emphatically defending the integrity of their investigation, we must say. Today, we are going to speak with Bill Pavelic. He was the chief investigator of the OJ Simpson criminal trial, civil trial, and the custody case involving his two young children, Sydney and Justin. Bill Pavelic joins us this morning. Welcome, thank you for being here.BILL PAVELIC, Former Simpson Lead Investigator: Thank you.ELIZABETH VARGAS: Former detectives Lange and Vannatter took on the air — were on the air — concede they made mistakes, but they emphatically deny framing OJ Simpson. Why are you so sure that, in fact, they did? BILL PAVELIC: In fact, their book even substantiates that premise even more. They basically falsified the affidavit, the search warrant affidavit. The information that they provided to the judge in order to get the search warrant was basically fabricated. They lied to the judge by informing her that OJ Simpson left on an unscheduled flight, thus leaving them with the impression — leaving her with the impression that he was fleeing California. They did not tell her that they scaled the wall. They told her that they recovered the glove while securing the evidence. And as you know from the trial, that’s absolutely incorrect. I could go on, but I don’t think we have the time.ELIZABETH VARGAS: But even if we grant, even if we were to accept everything you just said on face value, which clearly detectives Lange and Vannatter deny and do not, you were an LA police officer for 19 years yourself. What you are suggesting is a conspiracy of such an enormous scope. They would have had to have planted Mr. Simpson’s blood at Bundy. They would have planted Mr. Goldman’s blood in Mr. Simpson’s Bronco, planted Nicole’s blood and Simpson’s blood at the Rockingham estate. It goes on and on, and it seems fantastic to many people.BILL PAVELIC: Yes, it does. But if you look at the facts, even Judge Ito supported our premise, and that is that Vannatter, for all intents and purposes, was dishonest. If Vannatter was dishonest, his partner obviously is just as culpable as Vannatter. What we found in this book, in fact, is, that Vannatter was shopping for a favorable prosecutor, in this case, Marcia Clark. Vannatter contacted Marcia Clark before he obtained the search warrant or the affidavit, completed the affidavit for the search warrant, before he went to Judge Lefkovitz (ph). So now we learn from his book that the prosecutor had a much bigger role in this conspiracy than we initially thought.ELIZABETH VARGAS: Well, let’s get to the specifics of what they said yesterday …BILL PAVELIC: Sure.ELIZABETH VARGAS: … on our air, for example. For — the first thing they said was that Mr Simpson was not acting like an innocent man. As one of the proofs, pieces of proof of that, they played the following tape. It’s an audiotape from the Bronco chase. Let’s listen to it very quickly.

Ian Fleming - James Bond’s CreatorBy Sam Vaknin Author of “Malignant Self Love - Narcissism Revisited”Ian Lancaster Fleming (1908-1964), the author of the James Bond 007 novels, was the grandson of a Scottish banker and the son of a Conservative MP (Member of Parliament). His father died in the first world war. In his will, he bequeathed his property to his widow on condition she never remarries.Ian’s youth was inauspicious. He was expelled from Eton following a sexual liaison with a girl. He left Sandhurst without obtaining an officer’s rank, having been caught violating the curfew. He continued his education in Kitzbuhel, Austria, in Munich and in Geneva where he studied languages. But the chain of disappointments continued apace. He failed in a Foreign Service exam and had to join Reuters as a journalist. There he successfully covered a spy trial in Russia (1929-32).He then joined a British investment bank as a stockbroker and moved to live in a converted temple in Belgravia, a fashionable district of London, where he entertained the members of the Le Cercle Gastronomique et des Jeux de Hasard. In 1939, Fleming took on an assignment for The Times in Moscow - in effect a cover. He was spying for the Foreign Office and later for Naval Intelligence where he attained the rank of Commander.During the second world war, he worked from room number 39 in the Admiralty building in Whitehall as assistant to Admiral John Godfrey. He was involved in the evacuation of Dieppe in 1940, in the smuggling of King Zog out of Albania and in setting up the Office for Special Services, the precursor of the CIA.As commander of the 30th Assault Unit, he sometimes operated behind the German lines, trying to secure important documents and files from destruction. But, mostly, he directed the Unit’s operations from London. When the war was over, he built a house - Goldeneye - in Jamaica. He worked for the Kemsley group of papers and vacationed every winter in the island. While awaiting the divorce of one of his numerous paramours - the pregnant Lady Anne Rothermere - the 44 years old Fleming wrote “Casino Royale” published in 1953. It was the first of 12 James Bond thrillers, translated to 11 languages and with total sales of 18 million copies. James Bond novels are now being authored by a new generation of writers. In 1961, John F, Kennedy, the newly elected president, listed a James Bond title as one of his favorite books. Many movie plots were loosely based on Fleming’s novels and have grossed, in total, more than $1 billion. The 007 trademark was merchandised and attached to everything, from toys and games to clothes and toiletries. But Fleming was also renowned for his non-fiction: tomes like “The Diamond Smugglers” and his “Atticus” column in The Sunday Times where he served as foreign manager (1945-9). He successfully branched into children’s literature with “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” (1964), also made into a movie.Ironically, his mother died and left him a fortune in 1964 - when Fleming was already wealthy and dying. The trip to her service may have done him in. His son committed suicide in 1975 and his wife died in 1981. He left behind one heir: James Bond.

Have you ever realized that you have the power to get anything you want and be anything you want to be? If you’re still clueless about your abilities, continue reading and learn about the success secrets of the world’s greatest self-improvement superheroes.

In a <a href="http://www.abestland.comtitle=" onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outbound/article/http://www.abestland.comtitle=');"a best land" rel="external">land full of potentials, powerful superheroes live in happiness and fulfillment. But they’re not just ordinary superheroes; they belong to the highest breeds of the self-improvement clan. They possess the superhuman ability to get anything they want. Let’s meet them and discover their success secrets.

1) ASSIGNMENTORS

These superheroes are able to acquire any quality or ability that they may desire. They even have the power to instill or “assign” qualities to others, hence contributing to the immense build-up of confidence and happiness.

Success Secret:

They use other names perceived to be superior. If they want to encourage someone to write better, they might say, “You’re a great writer, Ernest Hemmingway. I believe you can always surpass your previous <a href="http://www.easyarticle.cn/title=" onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outbound/article/http://www.easyarticle.cn/title=');"free and easy article for you!" rel="external">articles.”

By assigning the name Ernest Hemmingway to the writer, they implant within him, in a subconscious manner, the writing prowess of Ernest. On the other hand, the writer will try his best to live up to everyone’s expectations that he, indeed, possesses the ability of Mr. Hemmingway.

They also do the bizarre yet highly powerful practice of putting someone else’s head into their heads, at least in their minds. If they want to be as intelligent as Einstein, they go to a quiet place where they can relax and concentrate. Then they imagine wearing Einstein’s head over them. They absorb his aura; and surprisingly, they will begin to think, act, and feel like Einstein.

2) GOAL MASTERS

Goal masters are positively mad scientists who meticulously prepare well-laid plans and goals that allow them to conquer their future.

Success Secret:

They write down their goals and break them into tiny bite-sized chunks. They know the importance of doing it step-by-step, little by little, to get to their destination. They have the power of flexibility (No, not the power of elasticity) - but the power to adjust to the circumstances, prepare new goals, and continue pursuing them bit-by-bit. They are master motivators with the discipline to stick to their objectives. They enjoy the journey in the attainment of their goals.

Goal masters know their limits. They know that if their goals are irrational, they’ll get results that will further prevent them from attaining their objectives. For example, if they set a goal to make a million dollars in a month (unless they are one of those financial geniuses), their subconscious will command them to sacrifice sleep, ignore stress, work endlessly, etc. And when they actually do what their subconscious minds tell them, they’ll fail, get frustrated, and give up, thinking that nothing works no matter how hard they try.

Therefore, goal masters set their goals to achievable mode. Their goals can be difficult to achieve, but they make sure they are possible to attain. Instead of the above scenario, they set something like earning $20,000 a month. After they achieve that feat, they set a higher goal of say, $40,000 a month. They know the value of patience and working systematically.

3) HOCUS FOCUS

These magicians can tackle any task at lightning-fast speeds and with laser-like accuracy.

Success Secret:

They focus their energies on one thing at a time, and give it all they got. All their attentions are concentrated on the particular task at hand. They are able to endure and withstand the outside distractions because they have developed the discipline, will power, and determination to continue pushing until their purpose has been accomplished.

4) TIME COMMANDERS

These superheroes are able to make time submit to their will. They have the power to summon all the time in the world to do whatever they please.

Success Secret:

They are extremely organized in everything that they do.

They put labels on bottles, place similar files on one folder, and prepare in advance a list of things they have to do for the next day.

They can also use their minds to organize things they have to remember. Studies have shown that people could only retain information that fit between 5 to 9 categories at a time. This is the 7 -2 rule of Neurolinguistic Programming.

Time commanders are aware of this rule; hence, they have devised a strategy known as “categorization.” If they have many things to do, they group related stuffs together. They combine activities such as reading books, listening to educational tapes, and watching training videos into a category such as “Education.” They group swimming, playing basketball, and paying fees for the gym in a category called “Fitness.” They do this for all their other tasks.

Their greatest strategy is known as “delegation.” They know the incomparable power of leverage. They delegate trivial and repetitive tasks to other people who can do them satisfactorily, so they can concentrate on becoming more productive with their most valued possession - Time.

5) VISUALIZERS

The Visualizers can bring into reality anything that their powerful minds can conceive.

Success Secret:

Everyday, they keenly visualize what they want to become or what they want to achieve. They envisage the event so clearly, that they can actually feel and experience the happiness, excitement, and other strong emotions accompanied by their visualization.

The Universe interprets the pictures unleashed by their subconscious minds and transforms them to reality.

6) AFFIRMATIONARIES

These superheroes use the power of words to get anything they like and be anything they want to be.

Success Secret:

They loudly chant the mantras of success (known as affirmations) everyday with passion and the belief that they are already getting and experiencing what they are chanting. They don’t say, ” I will be a great doctor” or whatever they want to be. They say, “I am the greatest doctor in the world.” And they believe it with all their hearts; that’s why they succeed.

7) ABUNDANCE ATTRACTORS

They attract fortunes, luck, blessings, or the so-called good things in life.

Success Secret:

They cut off any negative thoughts or problems from their minds, and count their blessings. They thank God/the Universe/people around them for all the wonderful things they’re receiving, have received, and will be receiving.

By doing this, they are acknowledging that they are indeed blessed and flowing with abundance. And by showing gratitude and giving thanks, they are befriending the Universe to give them more.
